The gig economy’s rapid expansion has brought about transformative changes in the labor landscape, but has also raised concerns about worker inequity. Our recent lab work seeks to address the societal challenges in the future of work through a bottom-up, human-AI collaborative approach that helps individuals automate and augment their tasks with AI systems.
In response to gig economy’s issue, our research project aims at enhancing the workers’ experience and address disparities in earnings. Students joining the project have the opportunity to experience with programming languages and environments such as Python, TensorFlow and Tableau.
Dr Toby Jia-Jun Li works at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), End-User Software Engineering, Machine Learning (ML), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications. He uses human-centered methods to design, build, and study interactive systems to empower individuals to create, configure, and extend AI-powered computing systems.
Prof. Li is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in computing education and research.
