Glin National College is committed to transparent and efficient preparation for the study period for all enrolled learners. Your education and experience are of the utmost importance to us.
GNC promises to maintain its ethos, mission, standards and values. We provide quality and professional services to all our clients, regardless of age, sex, race, colour, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, mental or physical disabilities, or ability to pay for the services. Our value system is to show a sensitive and caring response and be accountable and transparent in all our dealings with our clientele. We aim to pursue professional excellence and a quality standard system to serve our community's needs. GNC brings fairness and a high moral ethic to delivering all its services.
All information the learner provides must be accurate and up-to-date, including contact data and compliance with any entry requirements a course might have.
The learner is responsible for class attendance. Regular and punctual attendance at all scheduled classes, with a minimum of 75%, is required, as absences may affect grades and certification. The learner is responsible for identifying work and class notes missed during absences and catching up on the work outside class time.
Where regular unauthorised absences occur, and adequate warnings have been given and disregarded, GNC reserves the right to refuse to allow the learner to continue attending class, subject to the right to appeal. If training is part of a funded return to work programme, non-attendance is reported to the funders.
Active participation in the course, access to the respective course materials, completion of the required readings, and submission of all assessment work are not just tasks but your responsibilities as a learner. You are in control of your learning journey.
At GNC, we have a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of harassment. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities, and we will deal with any such incidents accordingly to maintain our college's outstanding reputation as a warm and inviting place for learning.
We also understand that mobile phones are a necessity for most learners. However, learners must turn their phones to silent when entering GNC out of respect for the other participants. The same rules apply to online lessons.
All Health and Safety rules and guidelines are covered by the tutor and listed on notice boards around the college. All learners must comply.
Classroom-based courses run in various locations, such as the GNC Centre or any other suitable designated space. All learners must attend lessons in that location for the course's length and be active participants in that learning environment, having face-to-face interaction with the tutor and other learners.
Online lessons use an electronic learning platform to give learners access to course materials and tutor support. Lectures are recorded previously to the course and made available for learners, whose responsibility is to watch them in the proposed timeline and deliver all required assessment works, engaging with the tutor for support whenever necessary. Distribution of GNC's online material is strictly prohibited.
GNC's Blended Learning combines an electronic learning system with face-to-face classroom sessions via live videoconferencing. All our blended learning programmes are tutor-led, directed learning programmes. To enrol in such a programme, a learner must have the necessary equipment to engage in such lessons, i.e., a reliable computer with a camera, a microphone, an internet connection, an adequate workspace, and the required software.
Learners' conduct should be the same as in classroom-based courses, and recording or distributing GNC's lessons and materials by learners is strictly prohibited. The tutor records sessions and is made available to learners for further study in the chosen virtual platform, where learners can also access and submit all required assessment works.
Learners are responsible for actively participating in their virtual classroom environment by engaging in discussions and chats, completing all coursework by their respective deadlines, attending online lessons, and regularly connecting with their tutor. Classroom sessions are live and require the learners' attendance, which must be done with their cameras always turned on so the course tutor can adequately assess them.
Assessors give adequate notice of assessment dates, hours and locations, and submission deadlines. However, the responsibility to ensure attendance and submission of all assessment works remains entirely with the learner. Absences will not, except in very exceptional circumstances, make assessment works available again for that assessment period.
Any deadline extension must be requested to the programme coordinator, pending acceptance. Plagiarised materials submitted for assessment purposes are fraudulent, and GNC will investigate and deal with all suspected cases appropriately.
Grading criteria describe what a learner must attain to achieve a particular grade for an award at a specific level, depending on the awarding body. A learner who was unsuccessful in passing a module or wishes to improve their original successful grade may be offered the facility to repeat, subject to the college's capacity to provide it. Learners wanting to make an appeal or repeat a module may approach the relevant coordinator and discuss their options.
Certificates are available for collection at GNC and can be posted if requested.
Confirmation of a place on any course is guaranteed only by full fee payment before the course start date. Please be aware that there are no fees for cancellations made seven or more days before that date, but no refunds are available after that period or in case of a learner not attending classes.
Furthering education is a beautiful way to change many aspects of your life. We hope you enjoy the course you have chosen at Glin National College and wish you every success in the future.
