This course is an introduction to Theater. We will explore several different styles of Theater and acting techniques. We will take an in-depth look at theater history and identify cultural and historical sources of American theater. Students will analyze, critique and construct meaning from informal and formal productions as well as collaborate with actors to refine scripts and monologues.
The goal of this course is to introduce beginning actors to several styles of theater and the history of the art form, so that they can better understand what theater is and how it has developed. Students will understand the fundamental techniques of an excellent actor and begin to learn the process of creating a successful production.

This course is designed for advanced performers. We will explore several different styles of Theater and acting techniques. We will take an in-depth look at theater history and identify cultural and historical sources of American theater. Students will analyze, critique and construct meaning from informal and formal productions as well as collaborate with actors to refine scripts and monologues. Students in this class will also touch base on the technical aspects involved in creating a production.
The goal of this course is to introduce advanced actors to several styles of theater and the history of the art form, so that they can better understand what theater is and how it has developed. Students will understand the fundamental techniques of an excellent actor and begin to learn the process of creating a successful production. They will also have the opportunity to collaboratively work on creating their own theatrical productions through student directing and stage management.
***Students MUST audition for this course and have previous acting experience. Auditions are held in February after-school.
Offered 1 Block (Advanced Performing Arts). This class is combined into the same block with Select Choir, Jazz Band, and Dance Company.
