Vermont licensed electricians earn required 15 hours of board-approved code instruction.
The class incorporates the International Association of Electrical Inspectors’ changes to the 2026 NEC program as well as Mike Holt’s Code Changes and is appropriate for those with licenses in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine.
Type S special licensees can attend the first day of the class for their 8 hours of approved training.
New Hampshire electrical inspector Ken Vallery leads the class. Ken brings 30+ years of real-world experience to the class.
The class runs from 8AM and 5PM each day, and includes a lunch break and two rest breaks.
Certificates of completion are provided to each participant for each state they are licensed.
Ken is approved to teach Type S licensees. They typically specialize in an area that requires some electrical expertise, such as fire alarm, HVAC, etc., but they are not fully licensed electricians. They need 8 hours of code update every three years. They can only attend the first day. It has to be the first day as Ken restructures agenda to make sure they get what they need and the first day is always at least 8 hours. Sometimes Ken gets in 8+ hours of instruction on Saturday, and the participants get out a bit early on Sunday. The book is titled, 2026 Changes to the National Electrical Code. My recommendation would be to say it is available for sale and that pre-purchase of the book is recommended to guarantee availability. The price for the book is $70.
This class is offered through a partnership between Green Mountain Electric Supply and North Country Career Center.
