Trot to Trophy II - Health Plan

Keeping horses healthy is a top priority for all horse enthusiasts and professionals!

This is done through a combination of working to prevent problems and disease, as well as recognizing problems quickly and connecting with the right professionals who can help. These health plan scenarios provide examples of common situations that horse owners face and some of the information that equine professionals would provide in response to common horse owner questions.

Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:

Appraise the body condition scores in horses
Compose a diet for a horse to meet their nutritional requirements

Instructions (step-by-step)

Step 1

In this activity you will engage with a number of different health plan scenarios. Each one presents a situation where the help of an expert will be needed to determine the best course of action. Select one of the eight scenarios from the main menu to get started.

The scenarios can be completed in any order, and they may be repeated any number of times.

Step 2

Once you have selected a scenario, a short description of what the scenario is about and larger view of the scenario photograph will be available. A virtual smart phone on the right is available for texting one of four experts: a Veterinarian, a Nutritionist, an Extension Agent, or a Farrier.

Navigate through a conversation with these experts by selecting your responses to the prompts shown.

Step 3

A message will appear when you have reached the end of a dialogue branch. Different choices may result in different results. You can return to the main menu and select a different scenario at any time by clicking the "Back to Scenario Menu" button at the bottom left corner.

Note that you will lose any progress in the current scenario if you return to the main menu.
