This is the section where you can see all of the projects I worked on while at NC State, whether it was an ad I did where I got to learn more about editing videos and how to upload them or a class project where I got to work with other people and figure out alternative teaching methods. This is an opportunity for you to view some of my work and get ideas for your own classrooms.
Here's a commercial I made with a friend for METRC, a library on the fourth floor of Poe, also known as the College of Education here at NC State. This project taught me more about video editing, a different way of teaching, and fun editing skills that I can use in future classrooms.
I created, designed, and recorded the ad you see above using iMovie and greenscreen overlay transitions on YouTube; if you're looking for some new editing apps, I recommend these.
Search on Youtube, greenscreen transtions to find some really cool transitions to screen record and add into your iMovie
This was an excellent resource for students and teachers to use because it goes into greater detail about digital citizenship and the steps you should take to be more secure on the internet. If you scan the barcode, you will find additional links with more information to use on steps, internet safety, and other topics.
This was a fantastic opportunity for me to learn how to use Canva better, how to create posters, dive deep into research, and gain a better understanding of the importance of informational posters.
Screencastify is an app that allows you to create videos that show what is on your screen; this is a great tool to use if you decide to do an asynchronous day or another type of teaching outside of the classroom.
The opportunity to create a timeline of technology in the past and explain what I've gathered in order to teach you all the information in chronological order and gain a better understanding of technological advancement. In the video, you can see how I outline the various technologies, advancements over time, and interesting facts, particularly some of the ones I found interesting.
Overall, this was a great way for me to try out a new tool that I may use in the future. In addition, the app is a fantastic tool that is simple to learn and use, and I would recommend having it in your classroom and using it with students of all ages.
Interactive multimedia allows you to provide a variety of activities on a single topic, such as creating a poster on canvas or viewing an interactive slideshow on Prezi. This is a method for your students to engage and gain new knowledge on a specific topic.
In this project I worked with three other people and we chose the topic on a book called, "A ticket around the world" by Melissa Owens and Natalie Diaz. This story is about a boy who travels around the world, making friends, learning languages, food, and learning about the country in general. We decided to do a tic-tac-toe slide in this activity and have the students choose which activity they want to try and engage more in the book. On my end, I created an interactive question Prezi in which each slide gives a sum of each country and each slide ends with questions to see if the students truly learned. I did a restaurants and had the students engage in more math and figure out how to budget the money they had; this allows the students to work on the materials they learned in class and remember the book.
Overall, doing interactive multimedia projects increases classroom engagement and understanding of the topic or book you are teaching.
For a project, I had the option of creating a bitmoji classroom based on any topic I wanted and selecting the category or area I was teaching in. I am an elementary education major, so I decided on a K-5 classroom and a topic that is related to my identity but not forced. I chose to teach Day of the Dead because the majority of the students had seen the Disney film Coco, and as a Mexican-American, I wanted to combine the two worlds and educate the students. Each section progresses from a DIY YouTube video on how to make Mexican banners to an interactive escape room, learning how to make an ofrenda, an interactive online drawing of a sugar skull, educational fun videos, and an overall interactive classroom.
The majority of my classroom tricks involved clicking on specific objects, such as the video, banner, marigold or orange flowers, Ofrenda, and color three suger skulls. Click to take part in the entertaining activities.
Here are the links to all of the videos and activities I used in my Bitmoji Classroom; this is a convenient way to access the links.
This is where I made a slideshow presentation of a set of goals I had and followed, as well as seeing my ups and downs of achieving and wanting to improve on my goals.
This is a great activity to do with your students if you want them to set goals and work towards them while also seeing their progress grow.
