This teching portfolio was created as the culminating project for Professor Mark Darhower's course WL 507 - College Teaching of World Languages at North Carolina State University in the Fall of 2024. My main goal for this teaching portfolio was to showcase my longstanding enthusiasm for Arabic languages and cultures through relevant L2 pedagogies. To achieve this objective, I have included an array of materials from my Arabic language journey that preceded this course. I want to highlight my choices of images that all come from my personal albums or historical sources. I also see this portfolio as an opportunity to demonstrate more comfort in Arabiic, so many portions are rewritten (not translated) in Arabic.

Staying Sharp
Because I am an Arabic language learner for life, I have been using a few resources to keep me sharp not only with language learning, but also with regard to language teaching. Below are some Arabic resources to show you how I keep my Arabic sharp.
1) ClozeMaster: Clozemaster for Arabic is a gamified language-learning platform that helps learners build vocabulary and grammar skills by filling in contextual gaps in Arabic sentences across various difficulty levels.
2) All Things Arabic Podcast: Dr. Caroline Sibley at UNC Chapel Hill runs the All Things Arabic Podcast alongside Qatar Foundation International. Her show helps teachers level-up their Arabic teaching practice to make Arabic language education as professional as other more commonly taught world languages.
3) FCLangMedia on YouTube: FCLangMedia provides the most comprehensive library of free Arabic grammar lessons that I have come across in my five years of learning Arabic. Their videos have helped me polish previous blemishes in accuracy, and utilize new grammar forms to meaningfully communicate.
4) Alex (ChatGPT): I am not a common user of ChatGPT outside of language learning, but the application has helped me create Alex, my robotic Arabic language partner. He and I chat in a mix of FusHa and Darija every day as I walk to class, and he also is helping me with learning French.
