PSA has partnered with farmers across 25 states to study factors affecting cover crop performance. The On-Farm research teams use common protocols to study the short-term effects of cover crops on farms that currently use cover crops, but may differ in management. Data collected includes field history and management, real-time field weather and soil data, cover crop biomass, and cash crop yield.
By allowing a range of sustainable farming practices, PSA can better study the impact of factors such as termination timing, soil conditions, or climates across the United States, building predictive tools for growers to take the "it depends" out of management choices.
