In about 1/4 mile you'll see a house on the right - lots of anti-quarry signs. A little past that on the left is a big map sign and a wide spot in the road. Park in the wide spot, head in.

13:35 What topics interest you? - Here are Potential Topics of Interest from our discussions and site visit (286 Project Folder) ... shout out or add to document if I've missed any ... then we'll guage interest levels around each and see if we can form some topic groups, at least to explore
Proximate Goal: Next week, we'd like to complete a Project Worksheet and One-Pager for each thing we want to work on (templates in 286 Project Folder)
13:50 We'll form some topic groups to develop ideas ... move furniture around as needed
Everyone in each group, say name & pronouns
Talk thru the different ideas within your topic for about 30min.
You can work in the Potential Topics of Interest document to save your thoughts (just start a new page in there, head it, and go), or write on the board
Rank the ideas withing your topic from most to least interest / enthusiasm
Be prepared to talk about them for 3-5 min per group

Tu 01.23 ... Project Planning
13:30-13:35 Housekeeping & announcements
Sit with work teams (the ones you selected last week)
Please enter your current team in the Contact Information spreadsheet, if you haven't already done that
The reflection and evaluation document is available for your comments (Course Information in Quick Links). We'll spend class time on this W, but feel free to have a look.
On Th, we'll have some students from last year available for you to talk with
13:35 Start developing project worksheet and timelines
Each team from last week now has a working folder within the 286 Project Folder (QuickLinks). Within each of those folders, I've placed a Project Worksheet template for the team to start completing (I'll review this with you). This will be your working document for planning purposes. There's also a One-Pager Template in each folder; we'd like to have a relatively solid version of this that we can deliver to Wake County Parks next week for review. Oh, and I also placed a photo of your notes from the board in there.
There is some guidance for developing timelines in the 286 Project Folder. Have a look and start developing a timeline in your team's folder. You won't know all the pieces-parts yet, but we have to start somewhere.
Hess & Case will wander the room to ask and answer questions.
14:30 Full class discussion of issues and whatnot
W 01.24 ... Reflection & Evaluation ... Project Planning
12:50-12:55 Housekeeping & announcements

13:05-13:25 Review Reflection & Evaluation document (Course Information) - make comments and any suggestions for change. Feel free to ask me questions as you do this (reach out on Zoom thru Syd).
13:25-13:35 Class discussion as needed
Project Development
13:40 Continue working on your project worksheets and one-pages. Hess & Case will wander the room to ask and answer questions.
General comments from Hess & Case - inventory is an important step - you don't have to solve all the problems - providing the data that others can use to solve problems and manage land is an important step
15:35 Adjourn
Th 01.25 ... Team Development ... Operating Procedures
13:30-13:35 Housekeeping & announcements
Sit wherever today - don't need to be in topic teams
We'll be doing a recon visit to 286 next Wednesday, so start thinking about that. We're working on having some GIS / mapping / data collection guidance for you to work through when you're out there.
Students from Last Year
13:35-13:50
A few students from last year's class will visit to talk with you about the course and grading approaches. Hess & Case will leave the room so you can talk freely. Only a summary of concerns will be reported to us.
Operating Procedures (or whatever you decide to call them)
13:50-14:05 Past experience with teams
5-6 Small groups develop list of team experiences and attributes they have experienced that help or hinder the effective operation of a team (so basically create a + column and a - column). As needed review summaries of Patrick Lencioni’s 5 Dysfunctions of a Team (see Week 1) and talk about whether and how you’ve experienced them during past projects, as well as anything you did to overcome them.
14:05-14:20 Operating procedures for this semester
Now use this information to develop Operating Procedures that will help our teams function more effectively. How should our teams operate? You can grab another easel sheet for that.
14:20 Class agreement on Operating Procedures
One small group will speak first, then others will build on what they say – agreed on rules of operation wind up in document
Someone(s) help me document these Operating Procedures
Can someone(s) volunteer to clean this up by tomorrow so we can use it for Teamwork3 (currently due Th 02.01)?

In line with that ... remember, we're all learning and that's the main purpose of what we're doing. So be sure, to the greatest degree possible, to let all team members try different things so they can get the experience. Maximum efficiency is not the key goal - learning is.
Teams should have standardized methods for their work by now (also known as standardized operating procedures) ... and this is a great time to write them down for your methods portion of the report.
