How to Apply for an Award

NCEAFCS Awards Process
Become an Active Member of the Association - All persons applying for a national award need to be members of NEAFCS and NCEAFCS. For team award applications, the team leader must be a member of the association even if the rest of the team is not.
Choose an Award(s) - Explore potential award(s) you would like to apply for at the NEAFCS 2023 Awards at a Glance.
Apply for Award(s) - Review NEAFCS general eligibility requirements and procedures from the NEAFCS 2023 Awards Manual and submit application per Award Application Instructions.
Share Award Information with District VP - Members submitting national awards must email the following information to their District VP of Professional Development & Recognition:**
Name of applicant and team members (if any)
Award name
NC Extension District (or Campus)
Date award was submitted online.
**You could forward the email confirmation you receive from NEAFCS to your District VP.

Submit Award Through District VP - Email your award application to your District VP of Professional Development & Recognition. Include form, application, and any supplemental material into one pdf document (preferred format).
Early Career Award Application
This award was established to recognize outstanding accomplishments of Family and Consumer Sciences member with less than 10 years of experience as an Extension Agent with North Carolina Cooperative Extension, to recognize and encourage the use of innovative and effective methods of conducting Extension programs; and to motivate Family and Consumer Sciences Agents to participate in their professional association and attend annual sessions.
One Family and Consumer Science (FCS) Agent winner shall be selected from each of the Association’s districts. In the event there is more than one application per district but a total that doesn’t exceed the number of Extension Districts more than one winner may be named from a district.
This award can be submitted by another Extension staff member. Can also include comments from other staff members.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Be a paid member of NCEAFCS by the December 31 deadline.
Be a Family and Consumer Science Agent with less than 10 years in the position.
Applications should be submitted following the corresponding procedure for awards.
JUDGING CRITERIA
There is evidence that programs are serving current needs and interests of families.
Details involvement of others in planning and implementation are included.
There is evidence of the use of innovative and effective methods and ideas.
Nominee should include supportive materials (one or two items - news articles, brochures, handouts, etc.).
The nominee's accomplishments should be considered according to the number of years as an agent.

Youth Award Application
The Youth Award is given to Family and Consumer Science Agents to recognize and celebrate their achievements in youth programming. One Family and Consumer Science (FCS) Agent winner shall be selected from each of the Association’s districts. In the event there is more than one application per district but a total that doesn’t exceed the number of districts, more than one winner may be named from a district.
This award can be submitted by another Extension staff member. Can also include comments from other staff members.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Be a paid member of NCEAFCS by the December 31 deadline.
Programs must have been conducted within the last year.
Applications should be submitted following the corresponding procedure for awards.
