Egg Judging Contest
This contest is open to any 4-H member who has participated in the NCD 4-H Poultry Show from any year and is still raising those hens.
Egg Grading Contest Rules:
Participants may enter one half dozen eggs from their NCD 4-H Poultry Show hens from any year. (One entry per participant.)
Eggs will be judged based on the following criteria:
Weight (per ½ dozen)
PeeWee (7.5-9 oz), Small (9-<10.5 oz), Medium (10.5-<12 oz), Large (12-<13.5 oz), Xtra Large (13.5-<15 oz), Jumbo (over 15 oz)
Participants will need to indicate what size their eggs are on the cartons
Uniformity in color, shape, and size
Exterior evaluation
Eggs without calcium deposits, stains, and cracks
Judging Point Breakdown:
Correct size (5 Points)
Yes: 5/5
No 0/5
Exterior Quality (15 Points)
No Calcium Deposits (5 Points)
No Stains (5 Points)
Free of any cracks or other irregularities (5 Points)
Uniformity (Out of 5 points)
