Egg Judging Contest

This contest is open to any 4-H member in the North Central District currently raising laying hens that were raised as a part of the NCD 4-H Poultry Project. The contest will be held on June 15, 2027.

The registration deadline is June 1st, 2027 as an event In 4-H Online.

Egg Grading Contest Rules:

Participants may enter one half dozen eggs from their NCD 4-H Poultry Show hens from any year. (One entry per participant.)

Eggs will be judged based on the following criteria:
- - Weight (per ½ dozen)
    - - PeeWee (7.5-9 oz), Small (9-<10.5 oz), Medium (10.5-<12 oz), Large (12-<13.5 oz), Xtra Large (13.5-<15 oz), Jumbo (over 15 oz)
        Participants will need to indicate what size their eggs are on the cartons
  - Uniformity in color, shape, and size
  - Exterior evaluation
    - - Eggs without calcium deposits, stains, and cracks

Registration will be an event In 4-H Online.

Correct size (5 Points)

  - No 0/5

Exterior Quality (15 Points)
- - No Calcium Deposits (5 Points)
  - No Stains (5 Points)
  - Free of any cracks or other irregularities (5 Points)
