Leadership Style
I would describe my leadership styles as very hands-on while also being a visionary type of leader. Meaning I would aim to constantly improve, while also making sure to be a part of the process. I would lead people by demonstrating. I am a strong believer of the idea that everyone has a role to partake in, which is why it would be important for me to help the people who I am leading through hands on actions.
Leadership Experiences:
Opportunity to teach 5–6-year Olds how to play a sport I love. They came in completely inexperienced. It took a lot of patience! We held two practices a week, working on particuar teamwork skills, along with proper sportsmanship and overall knowledge of the sport. Which paved way to them successfully taking part in games, and eventually making it to the state tournament.
Tar river animal hospital (adopt a pet fundraiser)
Organization was key and had to find a spot to hold the event. Had to call other shelters and vet offices to gather animals. Instructed a group of people on promoting the event and how to gather the animals for the event.
CLDP mentor program
This is a program offered at North Carolina state University where current students are paired with incoming first-generation college students to help navigate them throughout their first year. We all come into the program as incoming freshmen, and we build up towards becoming a mentor for another student, while also learning about our core values and personal leadership goals, which we then use to guide us in our mentorship. We worked together to plan a service trip. Note taker, making the agenda, choosing the location, choosing activities for a day, where to volunteer, eat, or learn the history of the place we are visiting.
"Leadership is about the team – the culture they keep and embrace; it’s about empathy for your customers, clients, employees and the communities where you do business; it’s about doing the right thing for the right reasons, being confident enough to take risks and responsible enough to think of those who your decisions and risks may affect.” —Kat Cole, COO & President of FOCUS Brands
