This show is open to 4-H with youth exhibitors ages 5-18 (as of January 1, 2022) and North Carolina residents.
1. All show participants must follow 4-H dress code and closed toed shoes. All Showman & Spectators in barn area must have on closed toe shoes, including all adults. (No Sandals or Flipflops). Exhibitors are expected to wear neat, clean clothing, preferably all white, black and white, or khaki and white.
2. Registration for dairy show is required by May 31, 2022. No animals can be added the day of the show.
3. Exhibitors must have trained the animals from April 15, 2022. Ownership by exhibitors is not required, but all animals must be under exhibitors’ care.
4. Classes will be divided based on age of animal. Classes may be combined or split at the discretion of the show management.
5. Animals must be halter broken.
6. If exhibitor has 2 animals in the same class, exhibitor will show one of those entries while another show participant is allowed to show the additional animal. Adults are not eligible to show.
7. A Grand and Reserve Champion will be picked from the class winners for each breed.
8. All breeds of dairy cattle are eligible to show. If there are less than 5 animals in a breed division, participants in that division may be given the option to; 1) provide money to cover the expenses for prizes, 2) forego the awarding of these prizes or 3) participate in the Holstein breed classes.
9. Limited wash or electrical facilities are available, participants encouraged to have animals ready to show upon arrival.
10. All participants are automatically entered in their respective showmanship classes.
11. Health certificates are not required. Any animals deemed unfit may be disqualified at the discretion of the show staff. Any animal showing sign of contagious disease (such as club lamb foot, ringworm, etc.) NOT be allowed to show. Animals will be removed from the show grounds immediately.
12. Animals are expected to be humanely treated at all times. Any acts of mistreatment will not be tolerated and will result in expulsion from the show and forfeiture of premiums.
13. Cloverbuds must lead their animal being shown in the ring.
14. There will be no premiums. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st – 3rd place in each class as well as Grand and Reserve Grand in each breed.
