Objectives of the Foreign Language Component:
Students will be able to compare and contrast the availability and sustainability of clean water and sanitation in North Carolina and a Spanish speaking country of your group’s choice.
Students will be able to engage in scholarly research.
Students will be able to combine information from multiple sources.
Students will be able to learn about a Spanish-speaking country and its problems dealing with clean water and sanitation.
students will be able to write an informational product in the form of a brochure.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE COMPONENT: COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS
1. Each group of students will choose a Spanish speaking country to compare and contrast the availability and sustainability of clean water and sanitation in North Carolina and their country of choice.
2. Students will answer their compelling question in order to compare and contrast.
3. Synthesize (put together in an organized form) the information learned from doing research and answering the compelling question.
4. Make sure to include pictures and graphs to make the final product interesting and to illustrate the concept that is being explained.
5. IN SPANISH: learn 5 new words related to water and sanitation. Use these words to write complete sentences.
6. Create the informational product in an illustrated brochure form.
