It was eye opening to be immersed in an elementary school culture, coming from a high school back ground. Students are so upbeat and their energy and enthusiasm is contagious. Students still have that genuine excitement to learn new things. Most teachers engaged students in active, hands-on learning. This made me think of the disconnect between students' motivation to learn in elementary school vs. high school. Somewhere along the way, we loose our students. We start teaching to the test and forget that learning should be engaging.

"As a future leader, it is important to know the physical, cognitive, language, and social and emotional milestones children achieve. I can not assume a pre-K child should perform on the same developmental level as a fourth grade child. I must support my staff in ensuring they know what their students are capable of and what interventions and supports are in place for students delayed in reaching important milestones."
