My name is Curtis Tobaben and I am currently a graduate student in the Master of Microbial Biotechnology Program at NC State. I am originally from Overland Park, Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas Medical Center. I have years of experience working in the clinical and research setting of both human and animal health. I am currently pursing higher education to gain the necessary tools to be able to utilize my scientific expertise on problems that arise both inside and outside of the laboratory setting. By combining my laboratory expertise with the business knowledge gained from my professional graduate program, I believe I can make an impact in driving the innovation of biotechnology forward.

In my free time I enjoy outdoor activities like disc golf, hiking, snowboarding, and exploring nature with my dogs. I enjoy listening to new music and playing board games with friends.
My goal is having a career that pushes the frontier of clinical diagnostics forward to improve the lives of people who seek medical care by advancing biotechnology.
