It depends. Some departments assign advisors in May, some right before or immediately following orientation, and some wait until the first week of classes. For example, Animal Science has students complete a google form at orientation and then uses this information to match students and advisors for fall. You can always use the Advising Help sheet to see who you can reach out to based on your major.

The enrollment system will only let you register for classes if the pre-requisites are met. If you are waiting on scores (and thus don't have credit for a class), then you will not be able to add the next class. We recommend you add the class you placed into and then adjust as needed when scores come in.
Students who are unable to enroll in math courses because of prerequisite issues can request help at the form linked below. At this time of year, this is especially helpful for students who plan to take a summer math course elsewhere and want to enroll in the subsequent fall course now rather than wait until their credit transfers. If classes have reserved or restricted seats, students should first attempt to add themselves to the waitlist, if possible.

Students can add a second major or minor through an online system called CODA. We'll be talking about adding second majors and minors in your fall orientation course. Students need a minimum of 12 credit hours completed at NC State (not credits transferring in from other places or AP/IB) before being CODA-eligible. For now, you should focus on building your fall schedule for your accepted major, and you will get more information in class about double majors and minors.
Click on the small "i" in the notes section to learn more about the restriction. Some seats are held for various reasons (specific majors, new students only, freshmen, etc.). If a course is restricted to first-year students (which by definition have less than 30 credit hours) but you are bringing in more than 30 credits from AP, IB, and/or dual enrollment, you will get an error. As a first-year, you can still take the course. Email the instructor to explain your situation and ask if you can be overridden into the course.
Students should refer to the Enrollment Contacts page to find contact information for the department/program that houses the specific course. Students will either find an enrollment override form to complete or an email address to contact. In your communications, include your name, student ID, the course section you would like to enroll in and any applicable information.
It may not be offered in the fall term, but more than likely, you have the box "only show classes that fit my schedule" checked. You should uncheck that box to see what open seats are left in which sections. Compare that to your current classes to see what is conflicting. You may need to choose another day/time for that class so you can take the class you are searching for too. Remember, it's like putting a puzzle together.
