The Counseling Center staff participated in a range of learning opportunities to enhance our commitment to our diversity, equity and inclusion goals and mission. The Counseling Center partnered with OIED to bring in trainings on recognizing and interrupting Unconscious Bias and Microaggressions. The Continuing Education (CE) Committee did not elect to bring CE programs to the Center, but instead focused on working with the Multicultural Committee to ensure monthly spaces for all clinicians in the Center to have conversation about and learn to interrupt micro and macroaggressions related to race, culture, and ethnicity. All white staff were given the opportunity to join White Accountability Groups and staff of color were given the opportunity to join Affinity Groups.
Through the expansion of the training program, trainees in counseling, psychiatry, psychology and social work were able to provide services to 1,676 students under the supervision of licensed senior staff.
