Chicken Life Cycle
Chickens go through a life cycle, much like humans. It takes 21 days for eggs to develop and chicks to hatch. Chicks eat the yolk inside the egg for nutrition until it is ready to hatch. Baby chicks will then develop into adults, called chickens.
Your task:
Create a chicken life cycle diagram using the diagram to the left as a guide. Be sure to draw and color your diagram using crayons, colored pencils, or markers!
Then create a 1-2 minute video explaining the chicken's life cycle using your diagram!
Suggested Materials:
4 black arrows

Create an egg template
White, tan, or light green card stock
11" x 14" drawing paper, 1 sheet
Black permanent marker
Crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.

It takes 21 days for a chick to hatch.
Hens form an egg every 23-27 hours
Egg color is dependent on the breed of chicken, and holds no nutritional difference.
Brown eggs come from chickens with brown earlobes. White eggs come from chickens with white earlobes.
The color of the yolk is dependent on what the chicken ate. For instance, corn and alfalfa diets tend to yield a darker yellow colored yolk, whereas a wheat-based diet will yield a lighter yellow yolk.
