Writing Studio Consultants
Hi! My name is Lydia and I'm so excited to be one of your lead Writing Studio consultants this year! I'd love to help with any writing struggles you have, or to just chat! My favorite things to help with are research, drafting, and revisions, so make sure to swing by if you're struggling with those. Outside of Writing Studio, I'm also leadership for Interact and Spectrum and a Pet Therapy Ambassador. In my free time I love to read, go thrifting, watch TV, and cuddle with my dog. Make sure to reach out with any questions and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!

Hi there! My name is Tyler Varnum and I’m so excited to see the amazing things y’all are going to write this year. My strongest subjects are Math and Physics, but I love Humanities and Literature as well. My favorite book is Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, and I love to listen to music, cook, and play the bass in my free time. I enjoy workshopping grammar and sentence structure/word choice, but I can help with absolutely anything related to writing. See you in the studio!

Dr. McDowell
Dr. McDowell is an instructor of American Studies and Humanities (AI and Science Fiction, Creative Writing, and Women and Gender Studies). She first worked in a Writing Studio at Duke University and has been passionate about making writing an accessible process ever since. When she's not grading student papers she's running, hiking, cooking, or snuggling with her two cats.
She always welcomes conversations about writing in office hours, whether or not you're in her class.
Mr. Zimmerman
Mr. Zimmerman is an instructor of American Studies and Humanities (Film Studies, Greek Drama, Southern Studies, etc). He worked in the UNC-G Writing Center as an undergraduate. His primary academic and teaching experiences revolve around the teaching of writing. When he's not in the classroom or grading papers, he's likely to be found running the Morganton roads, in a river with a fly rod, or roasting veggies.
He is available to students for their writing needs during office hours!
