Read each passage with your child. Help them with words they do not know. Reread each passage until mastered. Once reading independently time them for 1 minute and try to improve on the words read per minute each time the read. Follow up with comprehension questions: who is in the story? where are they? what happened? how? why? when? Practice daily for 5-10 minutes.
