At North Crawford Summer School, our academic time is thoughtfully designed to support student growth in a way that feels engaging, structured, and encouraging.
Each day, students participate in focused reading and math ālabā experiences that combine short, explicit instruction with hands-on practice and small group support. Teachers target the most important skills for each grade levelāhelping students strengthen foundational understanding, build fluency, and gain confidence.
In both math and reading, students will:
Participate in brief, clear mini-lessons on key skills
Practice through games, collaborative activities, and real-world problem solving
Work in small groups with teachers for personalized support
Build independence through meaningful, age-appropriate tasks
Explain their thinking, talk through ideas, and grow as confident learners
This balanced approach allows students to stay sharp academically while still experiencing the creativity, movement, and joy that make summer special. Our goal is simple: help every child feel successful, capable, and ready for the next school year.
Between 8:15-9:15 most grades will have their first academic lab, followed by a recess. Then we will have our second academic lab from 9:30-10:30.Ā
