CAST REHEARSALS:
Rehearsal will begin on Thursday, January 2nd for ALL CAST members. Rehearsals will take place Monday-Friday from 2:30 – 4:30. You will not be called every day and we will schedule you based on your conflicts and availability.
PROP/SETS/CREW SESSIONS:
Crew Session will begin on January 27th for those interested in building sets/props and running crew. They will meet on Mondays from 3:00-5:00pm. There will be additional building sessions on Saturdays (possibly). If you are interested in Props/Sets/Crew, please sign up online on the Crew Sets/Props page.
RUNNING CREW/BACKSTAGE WORKERS:
Backstage Running Crew are required to participate in Crew/Set work. Backstage assignments for shows will be given to those who have shown greatest participation in Crew/Set work and have the skills needed to do the Running Crew/Backstage jobs. Running Crew Member MUST be available for the Mandatory Production week and ALL Performances.
ORCHESTRA
If you are a musician and are interested in playing with the show's orchestra, please see the Orchestra page. Details about orchestra will be posted after casting.
PRODUCTION DAYS (Cast and Crew):
MANDATORY Full Cast & Crew Tech & Dress Rehearsal
Monday & Tuesday, March 24th & 25th from 2:30-7:00pm
Wednesday, March 26th: Dress Rehearsal: 2:30-7:30pm.
Thursday, March 27th: Final Dress Rehearsal: 2:30-7:30pm
Friday, March 28th: Opening Night 7:00pm - Cast and Crew Call 5:00pm
Saturday, March 29th Matinees 1:00pm & 5:00pm - Cast and Crew Call 11:00am (Cast and crew will not leave between shows)
It is mandatory that all cast and run crew members be available on all above rehearsals and performance dates. If you are not available for ALL of these commitments...please do not audition.
There will be NO EXCEPTIONS.
PRODUCTION FEE:
A non-refundable $50 CAST PARTICIPATION/PRODUCTION FEE ($30 CREW/ORCHESTRA FEE) must be paid online. Please contact Lauren at SaxeSpongeBob@gmail.com with any financial assistance questions.
Production Fees are used towards all elements of the production: costumes; props; sets; filming needs; etc. Also included in this fee is:
- 1 SpongeBob CAST/CREW/ORCHESTRA T–SHIRT
- Company Party
PARENT INVOLVEMENT & REQUIREMENTS:
All parents are typically required to chaperone 2 rehearsals – once casting happens we will re-visit this requirement when we see the cast size.

CONFLICTS:
We understand that New Canaan Students are busy. Our directors work very hard to place students in appropriate groups so that rehearsals are not missed. ALL possible conflicts listed on the initial signup will be honored up to Tech Week. ALL CAST & CREW TECH REHEARSALS ARE MANDATORY. Please do not leave anything off of your conflicts; your child's spot in the production will not be jeopardized based on availability. REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:
The regular weeks of rehearsals will begin on Monday, January 6th from 2:30-4:30. A rough rehearsal schedule is on the Calendar Page of the Website. A FINAL detailed rehearsal schedule will be updated on the calendar page of the website by Monday, December 30th based on conflicts and availability.
Please check your e-mail and the website nightly to receive important information about your child’s rehearsal schedule, costumes, volunteer reminders, etc.
E-mail will be the main source of parent-director and parent-parent communication.
AUDITION PROCESS:

Auditions are Mandatory for Cast Members! Crew and Orchestra members do not need to audition.
Each student interested in being cast in the show will need to attend a 30 minute, in person audition.
Auditions will be held on Thursday and Friday December 12th and 13th from 3:00-7:00 (UPDATE 12/11- We will now start condensing time slots so that we have full or half full slots each day. Lauren has sent emails to those in emptier timeslots on Thursday already) . You can sign up for an audition time slot HERE. You only need to attend one day of auditions. NEAD Dancers: please contact Lauren to sign up for the 2:30 time slot on Thursday or Friday.
Please report to the Choir Room 10 minutes prior to your audition time and check in. Prepare and bring the music to one verse and chorus of a song (16-32 bars) of your choice to be sung with accompaniment. The song should be memorized and sung WITH Piano accompaniment. There should be no a cappella singing. If you need assistance please contact Lauren or Mr. Gergle ASAP.
After singing your audition song you will learn a short dance combination to be performed in smaller groups.
CALLBACK LIST POSTED
Saturday, December 14th: The callback list will be posted on the website by 12pm. Any callback material will also be posted on the website. Remember that EVERYONE who auditions will be in the show. If you do not get a callback, it DOES NOT mean you are not being cast in a part! Sometimes directors need to see a group of actors together to make the best casting decisions possible.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF I'M CAST IN SPONGEBOB?
The cast list will be posted on the Auditorium Doors and the Musical Website by 12:00 PM on Friday, December 20th.
