CAST REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals will begin the week of September 15th for ALL CAST members. Rehearsals will take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:45-5:30pm based on roles. You will not be called every day and we will schedule you based on your conflicts and availability.
Tentative Rehearsal Breakdowns - these are the days your child COULD be called. They will not be called all 3 days at the start of the rehearsal process, most likely just one.
Group A: Monday/Wednesday (Friday)
Group B: Monday/Tuesday (Friday)
Group C: Tuesday/Wednesday (Friday)
Scene work/smaller groups or full cast Rehearsals on Fridays (See Calendar after casting for specific details)
PROP/SETS/BUILD CREW SESSIONS:
For those interested in building sets/props and working crew you will meet one or two days a week from 3:45 – 5:30pm. There may be additional building sessions on Saturdays as we get closer to showtime. If you are interested in Props/Sets/Crew, please sign up online on the Crew Sets/Props Page.
RUNNING CREW/BACKSTAGE WORKERS:
Backstage workers are required to participate in Crew/Set work. Backstage assignments for shows will be given to those who have shown greatest participation in Crew/Set work and have the skills needed to do the Running Crew/Backstage jobs.

Saturday, November 8th @ 1:00pm & 4:00pm/ 11:00am Call and Crew
All cast members and Run Crew members must be available from November 3rd -8th for ALL tech & dress rehearsals and performances. If you are not available for ALL of these dates (and times), please do not audition.
PARTICIPATION/PRODUCTION FEE:
A non-refundable $50 CAST PARTICIPATION/PRODUCTION FEE ($30 CREW FEE) must be paid online. Please contact Laura Newell, Director of VPA, (Laura.Newell@ncps-k12.org) with any financial assistance questions.
Production Fees are used towards all elements of the production: costumes, props, sets, etc. Also included in this fee is:
- 1 Aladdin JR Cast/Crew T–shirt
- 1 Short message per Cast/Crew member in the Aladdin JR Playbill
PARENT INVOLVEMENT & REQUIREMENTS:
All parents are required to chaperone at least 1 rehearsal – we will have a sign up genius once casting is complete.

CONFLICTS:
We understand that New Canaan students are busy. Our directors work very hard to place students in appropriate groups so that rehearsals are not missed. ALL possible conflicts listed on the initial signup will be honored up to the Mandatory Production Week. ALL CAST & CREW TECH REHEARSALS ARE MANDATORY. Please do not leave anything off of your conflicts; your child's spot in the production will not be jeopardized based on availability. Week of October 20th rehearsals run 3:45-6:00pm
Week of October 27th rehearsals run 3:45-6:30pm
Please check your e-mail and the website nightly to receive important information about your child’s rehearsal schedule, costumes, volunteer reminders, etc.
E-mail will be the main source of parent-director and parent-parent communication.
AUDITION PROCESS:
AUDITIONS are Mandatory for students interested in performing in the show. Crew members do not need to audition.
Every student MUST be signed up for an audition time slot. No drop-ins allowed! Audition time slots are available on Monday, September 8th from 4:00pm - 6:30pm, Tuesday, September 9th from 4:00pm - 6:30pm, and Wednesday, September 10th from 4:00pm - 6:30pm in the Auditorium. Students should plan to arrive 10 minutes before their appointment and plan on leaving 15 minutes afterwards. (Example: Those auditioning at 4:00pm should arrive at 3:50pm to sign in and they will be finished at 4:30pm). Auditions are for casting purposes only--all students will be assigned a role in the musical!
AUDITION TRAINING/PREP SESSIONS:
Students MUST attend one of the two audition prep sessions where they will learn a short dance routine and song for their audition. Students may attend both sessions if they would like. The audition prep sessions are Wednesday, September 3rd and/or Thursday, September 4th from 3:45pm - 5:15pm in the Auditorium and Music Room.
REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS BEFORE AUDITIONS:
1 Sign Up for an AUDITION TIME SLOT.
2 Complete the ONLINE REGISTRATION.
3 Make sure you upload a RECENT PICTURE (Headshot - Shoulders up) to your Online Registration Form (FILENAME: Last name, First name)
4 Pay the $50 PARTICIPATION FEE online (Go To MySchoolBucks and searche drama or theatre)
5 Print & Sign AUDITION PERMISSION SLIP
WHAT TO BRING TO AUDITION:
After you have Signed Up Online you only need to bring your signed Audition Permission Slip, your music and shoes/clothes you can move in.
****Students will NOT be allowed to audition without an Audition Permission Slip signed by Student and their parent or guardian.
