The Saxe musical is such a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn and grow from this unique and memorable process. We've tried to capture some of the most commonly asked questions in hopes that it provides more clarity.
Q: There are multiple students who have the same role, what does this mean for performances?
A: "Main" roles are divided into different sections across the show to offer multiple students to perform in that role. This means they will perform part of that role in the show (i.e., not the whole time). The student will perform this part for every performance.
Q: What if my student is unhappy with the role they were casted in?
A: We understand that students may have wanted certain roles that they did not receive. Please encourage them to give it a few weeks to experience the process. If after a few weeks they do not want to participate, then please email SaxeAladdinJr@gmail.com and Saxetheaternc@gmail.com to let us know. There are no hard feelings and we'll be sorry to see them go.
Q: If my student is listed as a general role, will they get more details of what they will be doing in the show?
A: Yes! To get through initial casting, broader groups/roles are identified. Over the course of rehearsals, Lauren and Matt will provide students with more details about how they will play a role in the show.
Q: Will my child perform in every performance, regardless of group?
A: Yes.
Q: If my student was placed in a group, but the student has a conflict on one of the days, do I need to let you know?
A: No, if you have captured this conflict on the registration form, you do not need to inform us again. They can miss the rehearsal and attend to their other activity. Our only ask is that they reach out to a fellow cast member to catch up on what they missed.
Q: Can I switch my student's rehearsal group?
A: No, we avoid switching groups wherever possible due to a number of factors including role, size of group, etc. Conflicts and availability (based on your registration form) have been taken into consideration.
Q: If my student(s) participates in the show, do I have an obligation to the show too?
A: Yes, parents must chaperone at least 1 rehearsal during the production timeframe (including production/tech week). Alternatively, parents may chair or be part of a committee (see the "Parent Volunteers" section for more info). If a parent cannot/does not want to commit to any of the above for whatever reason, there is also a parent opt out fee that can be paid ($100; see the "Online Payments" section for more info after casting).
