Christine Leo is a veteran elementary teacher.  She has taught all grades from K - 6 and for the past ten years has been the reading interventionist for grades 3-5 at Southern Pines Elementary.  While at Southern Pines Elementary, Mrs. Leo was the teacher of the year in 2011 and 2015.  As president of the Moore County Reading Association, she has presented six times at the North Carolina Reading Conferences on topics ranging from using picture books to teach writing to making comprehension strategies real for students. Mrs. Leo is from Pittsburgh, PA and is a graduate of Bethany College where she received her BA in elementary education and a graduate of West Virginia University where she received her MA in special education and learning disabilities.  She is a board member of the Authors in Moore Schools (AIMS) program that brings noted authors to local schools. Mrs. Leo received the Teacher Hero Award from the Pilot Newspaper in 2020. She is very excited to be the blend+ed teacher for grades 2-5 at McDeeds Creek Elementary as she begins her 47th year as an elementary teacher!
