DECA

All SSC students have the opportunity to be members of the student professional organization DECA, an association of business and marketing students. DECA members network with other business and marketing students from around the state, nation, and world, learning valuable skills through competitions, role plays, written projects, and community service.

Our chapter has after school practices and leadership meetings each month to prepare for conferences, where we enjoy food, fun, and learning together!

We are a very successful chapter in our state! We took 41 students to State competition in 2020 and more than 20 students placed in the top 10 in their events, with 5 students taking first place out of hundreds of participants! Even last year, during virtual conferences, of our 17 students who competed, 9 received medals, and 4 students were in the top 3. Two students also advanced to virtual internationals this year!

Those students that do qualify for international competition, travel out-of-state to compete with business students from around the world! Competition isn't a requirement to be a member of DECA, but it is a fun way to earn accolades, network, and strengthen real-world business skills.
