Second Step Child Protection Unit
Keeping kids safe is one of our number one goals at school. We often teach tools that help students make safe decisions and choices. Second Step Child Protection Unit is a series of sexual abuse prevention lessons taught to all students K-5. Recognizing, refusing and reporting are all important skills students learn. Students also learn about The Eight Never-Never Rules, The Always Ask First Rule, The Touching Rule and The Never Keep Secrets about Touching Rule.
Students are taught strategies that will help them identify and try to stop any situation they find unsafe. They are also encouraged to identify adults in their lives that keep them safe and adults that they can talk to if they feel they are in an unsafe situation. Below are some ideas and resources for you to use at home if you choose.
