Frequently Asked Questions

how much work will be required?

Each week your child will have a clear schedule of what is offered through video instruction, teletherapy, prerecorded lessons, and/or other websites or home activities. The basic format should take students approximately 15-20 minutes per day, with an added synchronous social skills group on Monday. However, this can be adjusted as needed for your child.

What are my requirements as a parent?

Parents will need to stay connected via email with MASH providers and school district teams. Direct support to your child during MASH instruction will need to be determined by your IEP team. Once a month, the MASH team will be holding a virtual Parent Night, and all are invited! There is also a Parent Padlet that you will be set up with during your child's orientation week. Here, parents will be provided up-to-date information on what we are doing during our instruction and ideas on how you can be involved.

What type of technology is required?

We will be using the MASH website as our main Hub. All of our face-to-face and synchronous meetings will take place via e-Therapy. Students will also be routinely accessing Google Classroom, Flipgrid, Pixton, Peardeck, and Quizlet. Once your child is enrolled, you and your family will receive access to informational videos on how to utilize the tools and direct contact with our MASH team to help you in any way. In order to access these things, students will need a Google account. This should be district-provided, so please contact your school district for more information.

An internet-connected device with a webcam and a microphone is needed for access to MASH. This may be a family-owned device or the district may provide. We recommend headphones for your child for the best audio quality. Assistive technology needs should be addressed by your child’s IEP team.

how do we partner with school districts?

Your school district IEP team will remain the lead for your child's education. MASH staff will have weekly contact with district staff and will be available to answer your MASH-related questions. There will be live data collection for both teams to access and there will be opportunities for both you and district staff to participate in lessons to monitor your child's progress.
