Integrating Technology in Education
A hands-on laboratory experience exploring the potential of computer technology and a multimedia approach to facilitate curriculum integration, problem-solving, and the teaching and learning of knowledge in various content areas. The focus is on software exploration and facilitation, the development of technology integration plans, and a review of current research pertaining to technology in education.
Artifact Alignment with ISTE Standards for Coaches
4.1 Change Agent
Coaches inspire educators and leaders to use technology to create equitable and ongoing access to high-quality learning.
The Google Level 2 Certification meets the Change Agent ISTE standard because it gave me the skills for integrating Google tools meaningfully in instruction. By completing the trainings and exam, it made me become more familiar with Google applications. This certification will support me as an educator to create equitable and continuous access to high-quality learning.
4.2 Connected Learner
Coaches model the ISTE Standards for Students and the ISTE Standards for Educators, and identify ways to improve their coaching practice.
The Social Media PLN Discussion meets the Connected Learner ISTE Standard because I actively participated in a professional learning network in order to improve my instructional methods. This allowed me to keep current with emerging technologies within the education world. This statement from DavidandHelen Kitchen opened my eyes and made me appreciate what educators do for their students.
Coaches model the ISTE Standards for Students and the ISTE Standards for Educators, and identify ways to improve their coaching practice.
The ISTE and 21st Century Standards Quiz meets the Connected Learner ISTE Standard because it helped me think about what my strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to technology skills. This assessment encouraged continuous professional development, which supported my development as a connected learner. It helped me reflect on my own teaching strategies and what I can do to integrate technology in my classroom.
4.3 Collaborator
Coaches establish productive relationships with educators in order to improve instructional practice and learning outcomes.
The Hyperdoc Software Evaluation meets the Collaborater ISTE Standard because I was able to collaborate with other teachers within my school district. Even though I was unable to interview tech-savvy individuals, I had the opportunity to discuss the different tools we have in our technology shops. I was shown how to use the CNC milling machine, which I do not have experience with. These types of assignments allow educators to establish productive relationships in order to improve their instruction..
4.4 Learning Designer
Coaches model and support educators to design learning experiences and environments to meet the needs and interests of all students.
The Google Unit meets the Learning Designer ISTE Standard because it allowed me to apply everything that I learned in this course to real lessons.
4.5 Professional Learning Facilitator
Coaches plan, provide and evaluate the impact of professional learning for educators and leaders to use technology to advance teaching and learning.
The Tech Tool Demonstration meets the Professional Learning Facilitator ISTE Standard because it allowed me to show my peers how to utilize Canva for educational purposes. While completing this project, I learned how to cast my screen with a voiceover. Giving this demonstration was a good experience because I learned a lot about Canva and its features, while also teaching my peers.
4.6 Data Driven Decision Maker
Coaches model and support the use of qualitative and quantitative data to inform their own instruction and professional learning.
The Digital Literacy Assessment meets the Data-Driven Decision-Maker ISTE Standard because it gave me the opportunity to gather information from my peers. By receiving their responses, I learned about several engaging technology tools that can be used in the classroom. By integrating these technology tools in the classroom, it will help to meet students' learning needs.
4.7 Digital Citizen Advocate
Coaches model digital citizenship and support educators and students in recognizing the responsibilities and opportunities inherent in living in a digital world.
The Digital Literacy Video meets the Digital Citizen Advocate ISTE Standard because it demonstrates how to use technology in a safe and appropriate way. While using technology, it is important to take the proper steps to become a good digital citizen. Being a good digital citizen means leaving a good digital footprint as you utilize technology tools.
