Nihon Chukinto Africa Fujinkai “NCAF”  

( Ladies' Friendship Association for Africa and the Middle East)    

Following the General Assembly held this March, I succeeded Nachiko Koike, as President of the Nihon Chukinto Africa Fujinkai, after her ten years of dedicated service in that role.

As NCAF was founded by the late Ayako Shigemitsu with the aim of promoting friendship and mutual understanding through exchanges with women from the Middle East and Africa living in Japan, I am committed to carrying forward this founding spirit and, together with our members, to further expanding opportunities for dialogue, cultural exchange, and mutual learning. At the same time, we are mindful that many of the countries represented within our community are currently facing serious challenges.

Among these countries, it is regrettable that an increasing number are experiencing in addition to the environmental changes, political instability or severe conflicts. Many people are therefore compelled to live under extremely difficult circumstances.While what we are able to do may be limited, we believe that standing in solidarity—particularly with the most vulnerable— with those affected and continuing to offer even modest support constitute an important part of our association’s mission.

We sincerely thank all those who support our activities. With this encouragement, we hope to continue working hand in hand with women from the Middle East and Africa toward a future of peace and shared prosperity.

À la suite de l’Assemblée Générale tenue en mars 2026, j’ai succédé à Nachiko Koike à la présidence de Nihon Chukinto Africa Fujinkai, qu’elle a assurée pendant dix ans. 

Comme cette association a été fondée par feu Ayako Shigemitsu dans le but de promouvoir l’amitié et la compréhension mutuelle à travers des échanges avec les femmes d’Afrique et du Moyen-Orient vivant au Japon, je m’engage à faire vivre cet esprit fondateur et, avec nos membres, à développer davantage les opportunités de dialogue, d’échanges culturels et d’apprentissage mutuel.

Dans le même temps, nous sommes profondément préoccupées par les difficultés auxquelles sont confrontées certaines populations, notamment en raison des changements environnementaux, de l’instabilité politique et de conflits de plus en plus sévères, qui les contraignent à vivre dans des conditions extrêmement difficiles.

Bien que nos moyens soient limités, nous estimons que le fait de rester solidaires, en particulier des plus vulnérables, et de poursuivre un soutien, même modeste, constitue une part essentielle des activités de notre association.

Nous remercions sincèrement toutes celles et ceux qui soutiennent nos activités. Avec leur encouragement, nous souhaitons poursuivre notre chemin vers un avenir de paix et de prospérité partagée.
