ABOUT ME

This is my second year teaching at Ascent Classical Academy, although I have been teaching since 2001.  I teach the 9th Grade Western Civ, 12th Grade Modern Literature,  9-12th Speech and Debate, and 7/8th grade Speech and Debate.  In my "free" time, I am a mom of 5 very active and busy kids. I also coach competitive swimming, kayak, hike, and am always reading something.

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY 

The purpose of education is the pursuit of truth and wisdom. An educator should teach students to be able to recognize truth and wisdom on their own and be able to cultivate the habits and discipline needed in order to become wise themselves.  Students will learn wisdom through the exposure to and study of virtue, beauty, and truth.  

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO

I am very dedicated to the classical model, and I am looking forward to the opportunity of sharing my love of Learning and Discovery with the students in my classroom.  I am excited to work alongside all of the other Ascent Teachers who are all so passionate.
