Ms. Hiatt|  Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado

ABOUT ME

I am a Colorado native having grown up in Loveland, Colorado. I spent my senior year of high school abroad as a Rotary Exchange student, went on to attend The George Washington University for my freshman year of college and graduated with top honors  from CU Boulder with a degree in Anthropology.

Out of college I worked for Prosci Inc, a research and publishing company specializing in change management, as a training auditor.  Later, my late husband and I owned and operated a construction business while on the side, I ran a small art studio. I am excited to have finished my master degree in Economics from George Mason University in the summer of 2023.

This opportunity to work at Ascent Classical Academy has been a wonderful new chapter and I'm so excited to help our young people prepare for what comes next after graduation. My other roles at Ascent include assessment coordinator, headmaster fellow, and 7th grade math teacher. I also co-sponsor the school paper, The Vanguard, I'm a house sponsor for House Lewis of Responsibility and I'm the yearbook sponsor.

I currently live in Masonville, Colorado with my daughter and small herd of cows.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a firm believer in empowering each individual student to take ownership over his or her own destiny. The confidence to do this well is rooted in a rich, formative education.  No matter what career they pursue later, our students will be well-informed, enlightened citizens with the ability to think critically and of strong moral character.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO

I'm looking forward to building out this post-graduate program. As our school is still young, I have the unique opportunity to take my experiences from the private sector and apply them to preparing students for college, a career, enlistment, or other vocation with the ultimate goal that our students be valued and productive members of their communities.
