Dear Parents:

Happy Friday.  I hope you've had a good week.  The students finished Chapter 2 in math and took their quiz today on the order of operations.  Multiplication begins next week.  They were happy to have no math homework for the weekend.

In literature, we continue to read 'Secret Garden.'  I did encourage the students to request an audio book from parents (usually available readily online).  Secret Garden has a 970 lexile, which is fairly rigorous though appropriate.  Students not at that level would benefit from hearing the book read aloud and it's a great way to capture commute time!

Today in science class, the students ventured to the area near the pond to observe and journal the cottonwood trees.  Nature Journaling is a monthly activity that seeks to hone their observation skills and encourage a love for our environment.  This upcoming week we will be discussing the Rocky Mtn National Park field trip and the geology and ecology of the hike as well as trail etiquette.

Coming October 2nd - our Secret Garden Curriculum Wonder Day.  The students can dress as a character from our story set in 1800's England.  Hope you can join us!
