ABOUT ME

Hello.  What a privilege it is to teach 5th grade at Ascent Colorado.   I grew up loving exploring nature and the outdoors, and hope to instill that sense of wonder and delight in my students.   Though Biology was my first love, I majored in Chemistry at Messiah College in PA.  My teaching career began on the opposite coast of Southern CA, where I taught junior high science for 3 years before starting a family with my husband of now thirty years.   I am blessed with 3 adult children, a daughter, and one grandson.  Exploring Rocky Mountain National Park, hiking, skiing, cooking, and reading are a few of my favorite things.

EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY

William Bennett's, 'The Educated Child,' first introduced me to Ed Hirsch's Core Knowledge Sequence when my oldest was in elementary school.  I began reading him the 'What Your First Grader Needs to Know' series to supplement his public school education.  I was so grateful to move to Fort Collins where my younger children could receive classical education first hand at our wonderful charter schools.  I support the tenants of the Core Knowledge Foundation and look forward to equipping my students with the moral and intellectual skills, habits, and virtues necessary to thrive in a free society.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO

I most look forward to the hands-on learning and explorations in science and math and the joy of working with others to accomplish a common goal.
