Problem of Practice: How can we use 3-D software to research early man and explore tools used in the Old and New Stone Ages?

District: West Hempstead

School: George Washington Elementary

Facilitator: Frank Morisco

Principal: Michelle Notti

4-6th Grade STELLAR Program Teacher: Dara Perlow

I worked with the teachers and students using tools such as the 3-D software Tinkercad. The students researched early man and explored the tools that were used during both the Old and the New Stone Ages. Students will then continue work on a research project that is geared to improve their use of historical resources and reporting. They were encouraged to interact as they recreated an ancient “tool” of their choice. Students were encouraged to include in their design realistic features to create a more authentic and lifelike tool. Then they will prepare and deliver a presentation on their creation and what they have learned.
