This action research project involves getting students more actively engaged and excited about the DESIGN portion of the
engineering design process (the step BEFORE they begin creating prototypes). Instead of rushing through the DESIGN step towards the CREATE step, I want students to take their time considering their ideas, planning how they will use materials and put materials together, and using labels to clearly communicate information about their designs.
