The action research would be to enrich the student’s awareness of architecture and the associated engineering tasks involved in providing shelter. I would like my students to feel more confident about planning for themselves. The project would include the design and construction of paper pop-up structures in the shape of iconic buildings. Goals included: learning about famous buildings; acquiring architectural/art vocabulary; utilizing the engineering design process; and using technology for research, design/self-management and fabrication.
