Problem of Practice: How do we increase the level of differentiation and engagement of English Language Learners (ELLs)/Multilingual Learners (MLLs) using technology and cultural relevance?

District: Glen Cove
School: Deasy Elementary
Facilitator: Wafa Deeb-Westervelt
Principal: Melanie Arfman

Teachers: Michael Battaglia, Alyson Dellavecchia, Maura Haff, Michelle Mardiney, Giselle Taylor

Using varied technology (Toontastic; Seesaw; Nearpod, etc.), teachers will engage students in creating “Where in the World” projects. These projects will not only enhance vocabulary and language development of ELLs/MLLs from varied English proficiency levels, but they will increase students’ independent use of technology for self-expression and oral communication.
