The Black Law School Association's James C. Collier, Esq. Chapter at Barry University, Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law was founded in -- with the aid of Professor Nadia Ahmad, JD, LLM. Our Chapter carries the nickname "Barry BLSA." We are an inclusive and goal-driven organization striving to aid in our University's mission of molding our members into confident and successful future licensed attorneys while staying committed to NBLSA's founding principles.

MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of the James C. Collier, Esq.'s Black Law School Student Association Chapter shall be to increase the number of culturally responsible Black and minority attorneys who:
Academically excel in their law school studies,
Succeed professionally by providing meaningful networking and educational opportunities, and
Positively impact the Greater Area of Orlando's minority community.

PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Association shall be the following:
1. Articulate and promote the educational, professional, political, and social needs and goals of
Black and minority law school students;
2. Foster and encourage professional competence, character, and integrity;
3. Promote legal awareness in the Black Community;
4. Provide selfless service to the community through volunteerism;
5. Improve the relationship between Black law students, Black attorneys, and the American legal structure;
6. Instill in the Black attorney and law student a greater awareness and commitment to the needs of the Black community;
7. Influence the legal community by bringing about meaningful legal and political change that addresses the needs and concerns of the Black community;
8. Encourage Black law students to pursue careers in the judiciary; and
9. Do all things necessary and appropriate to accomplish these purposes in good faith.
