Week 7
We are learning to explore measurement.
Wed: How can you be measured? Draw a chalk 'you' outside by lying down and getting someone the trace around you. Now trace around some other family members but remember to start the feet in the same place. Who is the shortest? The tallest? This is call measurement by direct comparison.
Another way to measure is by using non standard units. Collect together a set of objects that are the same and can lie flat. Like lego pieces or paper clips. Get a teddy bear and lie it down on a table. Now place the measuring unit that you are using alongside your bear. How tall is your bear?
Revision/ Extra ideas for learning:
Count forwards and backwards.
Identify a number on a tens frame.
Write numbers 1-10.
Here is an example of a non standard unit to measure a pen.
Tues: How many days in a week? We are learning about how time is organised into different units of time- a day, a month..what other units of time are there?
Support you child to say the days of the week.
There is a worksheet to support this learning.
Revision/ Extra ideas for learning:
Count forwards and backwards.
Identify a number on a tens frame.
Write numbers 1-10.

Enjoy Again. Week 6 and Week 5 work is here.
Week 6
We are learning to identify half of a shape.

Revision:
Count forwards and backwards.

Write numbers 1-10.
Proposal for learning this week:
Mon: Go down the Rabbit Hole and check out the video of Mrs Tyro and Sam.
Tues: Do the fraction worksheet.
Wed: Revise counting forwards and backwards.
Thurs: Revise reading different tens frames.
Fri: Go to the starting school page and practice number formation.
Parents, this can be copied for your child or you could support them to cut out these shapes to then show half.
Please follow the correct formation when writing numerals.
This sheet is printable.
If you are unable to print at home, draw up this grid and use small counters instead. Place the counters top left to right then repeat on the the second line- just like writing and reading.
If you can print: Cut out each 10s frames. Look at each tens frame and say the number. Try to say the number without counting! Do this each day.
Describe the numbers like this:.
5 is 2 and 3 more/ 1 and 4 more/ 3 and 2 more/ 4 and 1 more.
Numbers 6-10
6 is 5 and 1 more.
7 is 5 and 2 more.
8 is 5 and 3 more.
What would 9 and 10 be?
Extension.: Try writing to equations to and from 5 using the 10s frame to help you.
3 + 2=5
2+3=5
0+ 5= 5
How many ways are there to join 5?
How many ways are there to split 5?
5-1=4
5-2=3
Week 5 Thursday and Friday:
We are learning to identify patterns to 5 and then 10.
We are learning to join numbers to and from 5.
