Locking an Assignment Submission

Assignment submissions displaying Draft status are still editable to students. This status potentially allows students to change the assignment file or text at any time. Instructors have the ability to lock submissions in Draft status to prevent any changes to the submission.

Note: This action is only required when an assignment is shown in Draft status due to a student not completing the full submission process. Assignments showing a Submitted status are already locked and do not require any action to prevent changes.

Option 1: Locking an Assignment Submission for a Single Student

Step 1: Click on the Assignment in the course.

Step 2: Click View all submissions.

Step 3: Locate the student showing a Draft status, click the edit link and then select Prevent submission changes.

Step 4: Once locked, the status column will display: Submission changes not allowed.

Option 2: Locking an Assignment Submission for Multiple Students

Step 1: While viewing the View all submissions screen, click the checkbox next to each student name.

Step 2: Click the with selected… field and choose Lock submissions from the menu.

Step 3: Click Go.

Step 4: A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm the action, click OK.

The assignment status will update for each selected student will then Submission changes not allowed.
