Creating a Public  Link in Google Drive that Allows Editing

Any folder or file in Google Drive can be shared with others by creating shareable public link.  By default, shareable public links provide view only access. In some instances, you may want to share a file using a link that allows them to make changes.

Note: This setting change will allow anyone with the link to edit the file anonymously.

Step 1a: While viewing your Google Drive, right-click on the folder or file.  A drop-down menu will appear, select Share from the list of options.

Note: this will work with any file type stored in the Drive (pdf, doc, word, video, etc.)

Step 1b: While working in a Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides file, click the Share button.

Step 2: In the pop-up that appears, click Change link to Nazareth College.

IMPORTANT NOTE: A link to Nazareth College only includes faculty and staff! If sharing with students following the steps to update to Anyone with the link!

Step 3: A Get link window will appear, click on Nazareth College and then select Anyone with the link from the menu.

Step 4:  If you wish to allow anyone with the link to edit the document or sheet, click the Access field and select Editor from the drop-down menu.

Step 5: Click Copy link to save the link to your computer clipboard.

Step 6: Click Done when finished.
