Adding Access Pearson or other
Publisher Courseware to Your Moodle Course

In addition to adding a Barnes and Noble Colleges (BNC) Course Materials link for any Day One. Books Done digitally-delivered materials, you may need to link or pair additional courseware to your Moodle course depending on your publisher resources .  Access Pearson is one such tool available through BNC. This page provides important information on changes to Pearson's  MyLab and Mastering  and Revel tools.

Upgrade to Access Pearson LTI 1.3

In light of the Day One. Books Done program, the Pearson LTI, which allows faculty to link publisher resources to Moodle, will be upgraded from version 1.1 to 1.3 on December 16th, 2024.  As a result of this upgrade, previous courses with links to either MyLab and Mastering or Revel tools will no longer work.   Faculty and students will need to go to the direct publisher site to access resources after the upgrade for course resources used through the LTI 1.1 version.  For new courses offered in Spring 2025 or later, you will need to re-link and pair the publisher courseware to the LTI 1.3 version if you are using the Access Pearson tools.  Refer below to the following resources for more information on setting up access in Moodle and for accessing past course materials under LTI 1.1:

General Steps for Linking Publisher Courseware to Your Moodle Course

❗Important Notice About Publisher Courseware on Moodle:  Setting up direct links between your Moodle course and publisher courseware may require coordinating special installations by your LMS administrator.  TLT can also ensure integrations perform successfully and run securely.   For assistance,  contact TLT at teachingtech@naz.edu.

Step 1

From your course home page in Moodle, turn on the Edit Mode toggle button, located in the upper-right corner

Step 2

Before adding the Access Pearson resource, first make it is available as an option in the the Activity Chooser. To do this, go to your course menu, click on the More dropdown. Next, click on LTI External Tools.

Step 2

From the Activity Chooser page, locate the External Tools option.

Step 3

For Activity name, put in a title related to the publisher resource.

Step 4

From the Preconfigured tool dropdown menu, select your publisher.

NOTE: At this stage, follow the steps your publisher has provided to complete the  linking process. Upon clicking on the link for the first time, you may need to finish the "pairing" process by completing steps such as logging into the publisher site, selecting your text, entering an access code, etc.

Some publisher tools might provide the option to set up direct links to specific assignments (as shown in images above), but this needs to be confirmed with the LMS administrator before the publisher LTI installation process.

If you do not see your publisher listed or if you have any other questions on this process, you can reach out to TLT at teachingtech.naz.edu.
