What Is 'Knowledge'?
Knowledge encompasses a myriad of topics, and can be demonstrated in a multitude of ways. In our NJROTC program, all cadets are expected to study our basic knowledge pertaining to the program, such as the general orders to the sentry, the country and our company's chain of command, navy and marine rates/ranks, uniform regulations, drill knowledge, etc. All of which should be available to each cadet through their Cadet Field Manuals and Cadet Reference Manuals, with upper classmen to help assist in answering any questions one may have.
Being a student lead program, there are expectations of our company's cadets to put in a little extra time to independently study and remain sharp with their knowledge. Most Wednesdays are 'uniform days', in which all cadets in the unit (unless granted exception) are to show up to school in the NJROTC distributed uniform to be inspected. Knowledge questions are a part of this inspection process, with cadets being expected to repeat verbatim basic knowledge.
What 'Knowledge' am I (or my student) expected to know?
The knowledge expected from a cadet is known as "General Knowledge"
General Knowledge is comprised of the measurements of devices on the uniform, General Orders to the Sentries, Navy and Marine Ranks, along with their respective collar devices and or sleeve devices, military chain of command, unit chain of command NJROTC Cadet Creed, and leadership principles.
All of this information is detailed in the bookmarks of "Knowledge"
