STUDY STRATEGIES
ST10 - 1/2 Year - 1/2 Credit; Fall & Spring
Students who understand learning, practice good study habits, and attend to their social, emotional and physical health thrive in school. In this course students review the research on learning, develop executive function skills, and study healthy habits for sustaining the effort necessary to do well in school while being well. This course is designed for all students regardless of their academic performance. Everyone has room for growth. The course is organized around stand alone units so students can choose their path of study based on their needs and interests. Each unit addresses an aspect of how we learn, introduces an executive function skill, and shows how practices associated with mindfulness can nurture resilience and sustain effort. Students apply what they learn to current assignments in their other courses and create a portfolio that demonstrates their customized approach to doing well in school while being well.
