W.L. Gore and Associates has generated a project description that will help appropriately direct the group to meet customer requirements. Described below is the project description received by W.L. Gore.
The scope of this project is to design, build, and test a replicable model of an aneurysm in the Thoracic Aorta for deployment of aortic endovascular interventional devices under simulated use conditions, using non-biologic materials.
Our needs for this project come from real life situations of aneurysms. Detection of health related problems before they happen is a priority as well as what happens after surgical corrective procedures. Monitoring and predicting the problems associated with blood pressure flow rate and pressure fluctuations could help the medical field immensely. While working with a Mechanical Engineering team, our hopes with this project is to present a solution with the requirements stated below.
1. Safe per ANSI, OSHA, or other related safety standards.
2. Design system to mimic anatomical fluid flow conditions (recommended but not limited to):
3. Develop, justify, and characterize the following attributes (recommended but not limited to):
4. Allow visualization of device deployment
5. Document repeatable manufacturing processes
6. Graphic User Interface (GUI) outputting the following data to the user (recommended but not limited to):
