I am a Nicaraguan-American biologist and current postdoc in the School of Forestry at Northern Arizona University. My work focuses on exploring how wildlife responds to changes in their environment at different biological and spatial scales. To do this, I leverage a variety of methods including live captures, tracking, genetic analysis, and spatial analysis.
I am strong believer in the impact of multi-disciplinary and collaborative efforts to address pressing ecological questions and conserve biodiversity. That is why a lot of my work also includes environmental education, outreach, and training to build local capacity. While most of my research subjects are small mammals (bats and rodents), I also work with amphibians and reptiles and enjoy wildlife photography.
I will be starting my lab at the University of Texas, El Paso (UTEP) in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology program.
