Overview:
At Moorpark high school, I choose engineering as a my elective class. Through this class, we had access to various cnc mills, a lathe, a manual mill, and a 3d printer. Part of the course was to design an make a guitar from scratch. this involved wood gluing the body together, plaining it, then cutting out of the block. This class was also responsible for getting me a design opportunity on an exo-skeleton and later my own drone.
Designed my guitars on Fusion 360. (This image is not my original guitar design, unfortunately my file in fusion was corrupted)
Utilizing the CAM software I made tool paths with wood cnc mills available.
In order to save money on the project, we bought cheap strata caster front plates. They come with 2 potentiometers and a bridge tone switch.
I took the hard ware off and used it in my guitar since i was not making a strata caster style guitar.
After drilling holes up the bridge pockets for wiring, we stained the wood a dark amber which looked nice with the mahogany grain. Then to protect it I put a few coats of polyurethane finish with a wax buffer for shine.
