This will be a full-day workshop, taking place on Saturday, June 13th, 2026. Here, we divide our planned activities into three parts.
Following brief ice breakers, participants will review each other's application submissions to become familiar with the research represented in this workshop. At this stage, we will group participants together based on shared interests to support part two of the workshop.
Participants will organize into groups. Groups will rotate through a variety of stations that will each center on different contexts that must be considered when designing playful mobile crowdsensing. Stations will include different design supplies to support the creative process (such as bodystorming baskets, crafting supplies, and PLEX play decks), with participants assisting their groupmates in ideating concepts whenever needed.Â
Participants will present their ideated concepts to the larger group. These presentations will seed a critical discussion on playful mobile crowdsensing. While this discussion will largely remain open-ended, we will offer the following questions to stoke conversations:
How might these concepts evolve as they are applied in different contexts?
How might place, culture, and geospatial affordances influence playful mobile crowdsensing?
We will also consider the workshop themes during this group discussion:
Theme 1: Sustaining Mobile Crowdsensing through Play
Theme 2: Global Perspectives Towards Play and Place
Theme 3: Ethics of Care for Interactive and Immersive Mobile Crowdsensing
